Peer Recovery Support Specialists are staff members that have been successful in the recovery process and offer support and help to others that may be experiencing similar situations. Having support helps people get engaged in treatment and the recovery process. Support staff play an important role in the recovery process for patients and helps to reduce the risk of relapse. Patients are given the opportunity to meet with a peer recovery support specialist during their treatment. Patients will meet one-on-one with a staff member that has recovery experience and will share their own personal recovery journey. During this session, peer recovery support specialists will encourage, motivate, and support the individual seeking help to help strengthen his or her recovery.
